We took the opportunity to make a long weekend out of Father’s Day and explore Cincinnati — a city neither of us had been to and was just a short flight away.

At the top of Alex’s list? Take the girls to their official first MLB game at The Great American Ball Park. With all the cheering, clapping and hot dogs, Dakota was on cloud nine. (But in true toddler fashion, she just wasn’t in the mood for photos.)

After the game (okay, three innings) — and at Dakota’s insistence — we took a spin around the Sky Star Ferris Wheel by the Roebling Suspension Bridge.

Of course what is Father’s Day without a couple beers? Throughout the weekend we checked out Rhinegeist Brewery (turns out the owner of our AirBnB is a Rhinegeist brewmaster) and a brewery just down the street from where we were staying called 3 Points Urban Brewery. We picked up some vegan grub from Essen Kitchen before heading to Rhinegeist and while I brought a Rooted Juicery smoothie bowl into 3 Points, Dakota and Alex opted for fried chicken and hush puppies from the CHX next door.

Another kid-friendly food option we’d recommend? Maplewood Kitchen & Bar (for the ambiance and healthy eats!) Findlay Market was also a can’t miss.
